Wilderness First Aid - 40 hours

Planned Trip: Expedition/Multi-day trip
Care: Participants learn skills and strategies for providing extended care overnight to a few days

This course is intended for those who live, work and/or play in non-urban, remote, and wilderness setting.
This course will give the participants the knowledge and confidence to handle emergency situations while at work, or while playing in the rugged outdoors.
In this course, the participant will learn all of the skills that are taught in the Standard First program, however, we will expand further on that knowledge.
Have you ever wondered how to safely remove a helmet from someone who has been involved in an ATV accident? We will teach you how do this safely and with total confidence.
You will learn how to apply an improvised neck collar, how to perform traction into position (TIP) for long bones, how to reduce certain dislocations, how to package someone properly in a hypothermic wrap.
Also, you will learn how to care for someone for an extended period of time (over 24 hours) in a wilderness setting.
You will learn leadership skills and how to problem solve in extreme situations.
